The Latest Business Grants for Restaurants and Restaurant Revitalization

Restaurants have been hit harder than almost any other industry by the pandemic. From closures to labor shortages, independent foodservice businesses that are still open for business could almost certainly benefit from a boost. Fortunately, some small business grants are available specifically for restaurants. Here are some national opportunities, as well as state and local grants for small business restaurants.

SBA Restaurant Revitalization Fund

The Restaurant Revitalization Fund is a restaurant funding program established by the Small Business Administration and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Restaurants can apply for funding in the number of their revenue losses due to the pandemic, up to $10 million or $5 million per location. Restaurants, bakeries, wineries, inns, bars, and food carts and stands can all apply. Funds do not have to be repaid as long as they are used before March 11, 2023.

Uber Eats and Visa Grants for Growth

Uber Eats and Visa are collaborating to provide grants to independent restaurants in ten cities. Businesses that use Uber Eats can apply for up to $10,000 in grants to cover payroll and other operating expenses. Restaurants must have fewer than five locations, less than $3 million in revenue, and fewer than 50 employees per location. The deadline for applications is January 24.

USHCC and Grubhub Restaurant Small Business Grant Program

The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Education Fund and Grubhub have teamed up to support Hispanic-owned restaurants. They intend to award approximately 300 grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to restaurants affected by COVID. Hispanic-owned restaurants have until January 26 to apply online.

National Restaurant Association Educational Fund Scholarships and Grants

Individuals can apply for more than $1 million in scholarships and grants from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. These are intended to assist those pursuing a secondary degree in the restaurant, food service, or hospitality industries. Although not a business grant, restaurant owners can use these to further their education. Those looking to break into the industry may also benefit. They range from $2,500 to $10,000 and can be used for tuition or other educational expenses. The application deadline is March 15.

State and Regional Restaurant Grants

Typically, state and regional business grants are less competitive than national grants. Perhaps these opportunities are a good fit for your company.

TX Restaurant Relief Fund

The Texas Restaurant Foundation provides up to $5,000 in grants per restaurant unit. The funds are intended to assist restaurants in remaining open and retaining employees. Private donors and large corporations from across the state have contributed funds, including?? Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Shiner Beer, Wholesale Distributors of Texas, and National Republic Distributing Company. The organization’s goal is to raise $10 million in order to distribute it to independent restaurants.

Maui County Small Business Grant Program

Maui County and Maui Federal Credit Unions have joined forces to assist restaurants, bars, and other businesses that have been impacted by COVID-19. The American Rescue Plan Act provides funding for the Maui County Small Business Grant Program. Eligible restaurants must be able to demonstrate a 25% decrease in gross revenue from 2019 to 2020, have gross revenue of $2 million or less in 2020, and have an active lease or rental in Maui County. Applications are now available online.

Illinois Restaurant Association Restaurant Employee Relief Fund

The Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation provides ongoing grant opportunities for restaurant workers who are experiencing financial hardship. Grants range from $250 to $1,500 and are intended to cover living expenses following life-altering events such as an accident, illness, or the death of a close family member. These are for individuals, not businesses. Restaurants in the state, on the other hand, may be able to assist employees by making them aware of this opportunity for assistance.

Downtown Baton Rouge Outdoor Dining Grants

The Baton Rouge Downtown Development District has a grant program for downtown restaurants looking to add or improve outdoor dining areas. Grants can cover up to 50% of the cost of items such as furniture and layout plans. They also reimburse permit fees and provide DDD staff technical assistance. The maximum amount of funding is $1,500. Furthermore, these grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

North Carolina Business Recovery Grants

For businesses affected by COVID-19, the North Carolina Department of Revenue offers a variety of Business Recovery Grants. A grant specifically for foodservice businesses is included in the program. Eligible applicants may be eligible for a lump-sum payment of up to $500,000. The application period will end on January 31st.

Beaverton COVID-19 Relief Grants

Beaverton, Oregon is offering pandemic relief grants to small businesses with fewer than 25 employees. The program includes approximately $1.8 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which businesses can use for expenses such as utilities, inventory, and rent. Businesses must demonstrate that they are still losing money as a result of the pandemic. And funds are primarily designated for businesses such as restaurants, bars, and gyms. The application deadline is February 4th.

Boston Restaurant Revitalization Program

Boston’s Restaurant Revitalization Program provides $5,000 grants to city restaurants. They can be used to cover any business-related expenses and are not restricted to specifics such as rent or payroll. Restaurants with tipped employees may be eligible for an additional $15,000 grant if they pay those employees at least $12.75 per hour for one month and meet other requirements.
